Focus and Objective
The Sygnia Listed Property Index Fund ("the Portfolio') aims to replicate the performance achieved by the FTSE/JSE Listed Property Index (Code: J253T) (''the Index'') by buying constituent securities at the same weighting as they are included in the Index. Whenever the Index gets rebalanced by the FTSE/JSE Advisory Committee, the Portfolio will purchase the newly included constituent securities and will sell the constituent securities which were excluded from the Index by the advisory committee and buy or sell the securities that remain in the Index, in order to ensure that the same constituent securities are held by the Portfolio in the same weightings as those being represented in the Index. No securities will be bought for the sole purpose of making a speculative profit by selling them at a higher price later on unless this is for the purpose of tracking the Index. All purchases and sales of securities are done solely to ensure that the Portfolio holds all the same constituent securities as the Index in as close as possible weighting as those in the Index. The Portfolio is passively managed, and aims to produce the same level of income as that produced by the Index. The composition of the Portfolio will be compared to the composition of the Index on a daily basis, taking into account any new investment contributions or withdrawals to and from the Portfolio, the receipt of any dividends for reinvestment, the effect of any corporate actions and its impact on the composition of the Portfolio relative to that of the Index. A tracking error minimising algorithm is used to determine the least number of transactions required to keep the Portfolio aligned as closely as practically possible to the Index while at the same time keeping the trading costs in the Portfolio to a minimum. Thus, all cash movements and corporate actions are taken into account daily in order to re-align the Portfolio to match the composition of the Index as closely as practically possible. The Portfolio may trade in futures in order to ensure that there is always sufficient liquidity to meet the Portfolio's contractual obligations to investors.
